The PhD program offered by the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (GS-HSS) at the University of Basel allows you to pursue a structured degree in a theoretically, methodologically, and thematically stimulating environment, working in close dialogue with other PhD students.

As of 1 February 2020, all PhD students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are part of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (GS-HSS). PhD students in the Graduate School can benefit from this specially tailored program. You will receive important information regarding events and faculty updates, and you can also access a wide range of courses on core competencies relevant to interdisciplinary research—such as data management, process organization, writing training, and introductions to programming languages.
