Playable Imaging – Photography in, as, and against Games

Playable Imaging investigates phenomena of image-making within computer games, and the relationship between play and the tradition and development of photography in digital and networked forms. It analyses the relations of the player, the camera apparatus and the image with the game object, in order to explore the resulting political, economic and social implications that these forms of imaging contain. Playable Imaging scrutinises how the photographic tradition is negotiated, contested or co-opted within game spaces and moves from the problematisation of the term in-game photography to opening the potentials of playable forms of imaging.
